shed the dead

fall

Leaves cover trees. Growing leaves of green is natural for the tree. The green leaves surrounding the tree help give the tree identity and purpose. Leaves make it easy for trees to hide their branches which are attached to the trunk that is rooted firmly into the ground. Branches are full of life that is given to them through the firmly planted roots.

Branches reach out to other trees. Branches are beautiful. Branches are broad. Branches are blessed. Cold comes to kill leaves! The leaves don't want to go. They fight to stay on the branches turning stunting shades of red, gold, and orange. Leaves are sneaky. They think outward beauty will win hearts. The cold is stronger than shades of gold. The leaves finally give up and turn brown. Now the tree can actually see the true leaf!

Most of the time the wind blows the dead leaves off of the tree exposing the branches to the eyes of the earth. Occasionally, though, dead leaves stick to the branches trying their hardest to suck the life out of the branch. It gets cold for a reason! The branch needs to be clean! I think that some dead leaves stick to branches so our sisters and brothers can pick them off.

I was running the other day, and saw dead leaves on bushes and trees everywhere. I picked one off. Lately I have been praying that God would show me when and how to encourage my Christian brothers and sisters. Sin is natural for humans, like leaves are natural for trees. I will be picking off dead leaves :) Please pick them off of me:)

come on y'all

all you need is love (and a banjo)

Let's all get in a van and learn how to play instruments. We can live off the fruit of the land and the spare change from lovers of music and peace.
